Cross-Functional Collaboration Workshop
Cross-Functional Collaboration Workshop
Run a short workshop with a colleague from another department to identify one collaboration improvement and design a concrete experiment to test it.
Instructions
What You'll Do
Organize a 30-minute conversation with a colleague from another department — a salesperson, customer success manager, or product manager. Together, identify one process where better collaboration could improve results, then commit to one experiment.
Instructions
Step 1 — Choose your collaborator
Pick someone from a department that directly touches your work:
- Sales (for lead quality and handoff)
- Customer Success (for retention and expansion insights)
- Product (for feature feedback and roadmap alignment)
Step 2 — Run the conversation (30 min)
Ask these questions:
- Where do you feel the handoff between our teams breaks down?
- What information do you wish you got from my team that you don't?
- What's one thing we could do differently that would make your job easier?
Listen more than you talk. Take notes.
Step 3 — Map the current vs. improved workflow
Draw (even on paper) the current process in that area and an improved version that incorporates both perspectives.
Step 4 — Commit to one experiment
Pick one concrete, low-effort change to try for 2 weeks. Examples:
- Marketing joins the Sales weekly stand-up for 10 minutes to share top-of-funnel metrics
- Set up a shared Slack channel between Product and Marketing for real-time customer feedback
- Create a monthly "Voice of Customer" doc that CS shares with Marketing after support calls
Submission
Write your response below. Include:
- Who you spoke with and their role
- The biggest insight from the conversation (what surprised you?)
- The current workflow vs. the improved workflow you mapped
- The one experiment you committed to — and what you'll measure to know if it worked
Your submission
Write your response. Submissions are saved to your account and reviewed by an instructor.
