Instructions
What You'll Do
Using the OKR framework, define one ambitious Objective for your growth or marketing team and 2–3 Key Results that align with your company's revenue goals.
Instructions
Step 1 — Draft your Objective
An Objective should be inspirational, qualitative, and time-bound. It answers: "What do we want to achieve this quarter?"
Example: "Increase Monthly Recurring Revenue by 15% by end of Q4."
Step 2 — Write 2–3 Key Results
Key Results are specific, measurable outcomes. They answer: "How will we know we achieved it?"
Example Key Results:
- Generate 200 marketing-qualified leads (MQLs) for Sales
- Improve free trial conversion rate from 8% to 12% through email nurture and in-app guidance
- Reduce Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) by 10% through channel optimization
Step 3 — Validate the numbers
For each Key Result, show how you arrived at the number. Use historical data if you have it. Ask: "Is this ambitious but realistic?"
Step 4 — Present for feedback
Schedule a 30-minute meeting with your manager or an executive to review. Ask:
- Are these the right metrics?
- Are they ambitious yet realistic?
- Does this align with what the business needs most this quarter?
